The French vintage fashion designer Jacques Heim

Jacques Heim (1899-1967) was a famous French fashion designer. He founded his own couture house in 1930. In 1936, he launched young outfits with the Jeunes Filles collection to target a new audience. In addition of the clothes, Jacques Heim created fragances (Alambie in 1947, J’aime in 1958 and Shandoah in 1966).

From 1958 to 1962, he was at the head of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. The Jacques Heim house closed in 1969, two years after the designer’s death. In the Women’s Wear Daily ‘s obituary, we could read : “Heim was basically an innovator in business. He didn’t want to be called a designer, but rather an editor of clothes.”
