The Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) was created in 1976 in order to show the best movies presented in the other film festivals around the world to Toronto audiences. The original name was “the Festival of Festivals” ; it was renamed “the Toronto International Film Festival” in 1995. The most prestigious price is the People’s Choice Award. Among the movies rewarded by this price, there are “The Princess Bride” (1987), “Cyrano de Bergerac” (1990), “Amélie” (2001), “Eastern Promises” (2007) and “La La Land” (2016).
