HANDMADE NECKLACE IN PARIS. Materials : Aquamarine, pink Spinel, pink Chalcedony, Mother of pearl and Swarovski crystal. The clasp is in gilded brass with 24k fine gold (nickel free). The pale blue color of aquamarine, evoking seawater, is enlivened by the bright pink of chalcedony and spinel. Aquamarine takes its name from the Latin “aqua-marina,” meaning “seawater.” In Greek mythology, Calypso was a sea nymph, Queen of the mythical island of Ogygia. She is known for her tragic love story with the hero Ulysses.

Description

Daughter of Atlas, the sea nymph Calypso saved the hero Ulysses after his shipwreck. In love with him, she held him captive for seven years. Hermes sent by Zeus, asked her to free Ulysse. Finally, reluctantly, she helped him to build a raft. Devasted by the departure of Ulysses, she committed suicide.
