There is a movie about a witch with her cat “Bell, book and candles” directed by Richard Quine in 1958 and starring Kim Novak and James Stewart. It tells the story of a modern witch (Kim Novak) with her cat (wizard) who fall in love with her neighbor who is a mortal and engaged (James Stewart). She will use her magic (spells) to make him love her.
