My design based on my picture of a Tenerife sun. I changed the colors of the sun and made circle shapes.
It reminds me of Sonia and Robert Delaunay paintings. Robert and Sonia Delaunay belonged to the Orphism movement (Painting movement, born in 1912 in France, focused on vivid colors and geometric shapes).
“Orphism is a style of abstract painting influenced by Cubism, developed by Sonia and Robert Delaunay. French poet Guillaume Apollinaire created the name “Orphism” in 1912 at the Section d’Or exhibition to distinguish the Delaunays’ work from Cubism. Orphism movement focused on the use of vivid colors and light.” Section d’or exhibition took place in Paris (October 1st-12th, 1912) and was organized by the Puteaux group.
“The name “Orphism” comes from the legendary Greek poet and musician Orpheus. The term was coined by the French poet Guillaume Apollinaire, who believed that painting should have a musical dimension.”
“The movement was based on scientific theories, notably Michel Eugène Chevreul’s principle of “simultaneous contrasts,” which demonstrated how the juxtaposition of opposing colors could create harmony.”
The artists Robert and Sonia Delaunay, František Kupka, Francis Picabia and Fernand Léger belonged to the Orphism movement.
Op art movement (1960s) was inspired by Orphism.
