Salomé

The painting “Salomé” was realised by Paul Antoine de la Boulaye in 1909. Salome is the daughter of Herodiade and Herod the Great (Herod I). She inspired painters like Gustave Moreau and Paul Antoine de la Boulaye. She is often represented dancing in front of her stepfather Herod Antipas to charm him. She is also frequently painted holding the Jean Baptiste’s head. She asked  Herod Antipas to kill Jean Baptiste and give her his head in order to prove to her his love.
