“In 1921, the Parisian architect Charles Adda (1873–1938) won a competition to replace the ancient bathhouse. His design was titled “The Pompeian Baths”. He was inspjred by classical Antiquity but added Art Deco designs with straight lines and the use of concrete. Exquisite blue mosaics decorated the bath cabins. 250 cabins were built in 1923. That same year, he created the Promenade des Planches, which runs along the shoreline for 643 meters. The bath cabins were inaugurated on July 5, 1924.”

A scene in the French movie “Un homme et une femme” (1966) was filmed on Deauville Beach. The song in this scene is iconic (Francis Lai music, interpreted by Pierre Barouh and Nicole Croisille). The scene : youtu.be/OKYZLPqLWgg?is=h7klAuWpFXVqsjh8
