The pale blue stone “aquamarine” takes its name from the Latin “aqua” and “marina” meaning water and sea. According to the Greeks and Romans, aquamarine was the stone of the god of the sea and oceans Neptune. That’s why, sailors and fishermen wear it as a lucky charm to protect themselves against storms.
