“Metropolis” is a science fiction and visionary movie : “In a futuristic city (Metropolis) sharply divided between the working class and the city planners, the son of the city’s mastermind Freder falls in love with a working class prophet Maria who predicts the coming of a savior to mediate their differences.”
It is a visionary movie in which the architecture of the city have inspired directors such as Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, 1982)
It also inspired Luc Besson in the 5th element. In this futurist movie, Luc Besson retakes the vertical and vertiginous architecture but also the dense and air transports.
Besides, there is a strong femal character (heroine) in the movie Metropolis and Fifth element.
