Rococo (derived from the French word “rocaille” meaning rock garden) was a decorative style, popular in Europe in the 18th century. This style embraced several art domains like interior design, decorative arts, painting and sculpture. Rococo style was characterized by “lightness, elegance, and an exuberant use of curving, natural forms in ornamentation”. The Rococo paintings were recognizable by the pastel colors, curving forms, celebration of love and the representation of cherub angels.
