“The ghost and Mrs. Muir” directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz in 1947 and starring Gene Tierney, Natalie Wood and Rex Harrison
“In 1900, a young widow (Gene Tierney) finds her seaside cottage is haunted and forms a unique relationship with the ghost of Captain Gregg (Rex Harrison). ” It is a wonderful movie with three of my favourite actors (Gene Tierney, Rex Harrison and a young Natalie Wood). This movie mixes brilliantly different genres : romance, comedy, science fiction and drama. The dialogues and arguments between the graceful Gene Tierney and the charismatic Rex Harrison are priceless! Besides, two scenes of this film (Captain Gregg goodbye speech and the final scene) are among the most beautiful and moving movie scenes ever.
There is a beautiful video about this film :
“The haunting” directed by Robert Wise in 1963 and starring Julie Harris, Claire Bloom and Richard Johnson.
“Dr John Markway (Richard Johnson), a scientist doing research on the paranormal invites two women (Julie Harris and Claire Bloom) to a haunted mansion. One of the participants soon starts losing her mind.” It is a scary and memorable movie. The actors and particulary Julie Harris are remarkable.
