Lionel Kazan (1930-2016) was a fashion photographer of Russian origin who had known a great success during the Fifties and Sixties. He is especially famous for his collaboration with the French fashion magazine ELLE ; he produced 92 covers from 1953 to 1965. Lionel Kazan also produced photoshoots for Vogue, Glamour, Marie-Claire and Nouveau Femina. Well-known models posed for him such as Bettina Graziani and Pia Rossilli (who will become his wife). Thanks to his work, he was in contact of the greatest fashion photographers like Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton and Guy Bourdin. Besides, iconic celebrities had been under his objective : Catherine Deneuve, Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda, Jean Seberg… In 2016, Alexandra Kazan releases a book paying a tribute to her father’s work.
