Crepe or crape is a type of woven or knitted fabric with a wrinkled surface. Crepe can be made from several different materials (silk, wool, polyester or cotton). It is the way in which the fibres are twisted and weaved which gives the crepe its specific aspect. Among the varieties of crepe there are crepe de chine (made from silk), wool crepe, Moroccan crepe (madeofsilk, wool, orrayon, oracombinationofthesefibers), plisse crepe and crepe georgette or chiffon (made from silk or fabric similar to silk that is flexible and stretchable). The most important exporters of crepe de chine are Asian countries (Thailand, China, Korea, and India).
