The Venice International Film Festival is the oldest film festival ; it was founded in 1932. Each year, the festival takes place in Venice, late August or early September. The highest prize given to a film is Leone d’Oro (Golden Lion). Among movies rewarded by this honour, there are “Au revoir les enfants” by Louis Malle, “Brokeback mountain” and “Lust caution” by Ang Lee.
In the 2016 edition, the most promising movie presented was “La, la, land” directed by Damien Chazelle and starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Emma Stone won the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress.
