The French painter Raoul Dufy

Raoul Dufy (1877-1953) was a French painter, illustrator and designer . He admired the works of Van Gogh, Gauguin and Impressionist painters. He wasn’t really a Fauvist painter : he only adhered to the Fauve movement during three years until 1909. Besides, he produced fabric designs for the fashion designer Paul Poiret. His paintings are lightful, joyful, bright, colorful, warm and poetic. The colours he used (namely the shades of blue) are marvellous. He painted many times the French Riviera and especially Nice. He also painted and illustrated beautiful flowers.
